Benefits of Illegal Immigration

0
December 3, 2012

There are huge benefits to allowing uneducated illegals to enter and remain in the US. For the most part, Mexicans have a much better work ethic than Americans. Allowing Mexicans to remain in the US puts downward pressure on wages particularly in the retail and service industries. It is laughable that workers at Walmart or McDonalds want to form a union when their are so many illegals and unemployed Americans need jobs.

Retail and service jobs are not designed for raising a family. It is ridiculous that people think they are entitled to higher pay just because they are lazy and have no motivation to improve their lives through education. You would think low pay in retail or service industries would be enough of an incentive to get an education to move out of those industries.

The vast majority of employees in these industries move on to better paying jobs, which is why they have a high turnover rate.

Unions serve no purpose except to bring down the productivity of employees and to reward lazy and inept workers. We need to allow illegals to have the ability to work in the US so employers can dump the lazy American workers and replace them with productive foreigners.

Unions force high wages on both the productive and unproductive employees. Should these industries pay more to workers? YES but only to productive employees. I think it would be good for employers to share the pay of all the employees with all the employees and any pay raises and the rational for the pay raises. At a minimum, it should be made clear what some employee pay raises even if not specifically identifying the employee. Also they should make it clear how they can improve their performance to ensure pay increases over time.

Mexicans will gladly do jobs the Americans are unwilling to do and for lower wages than Americans. Our low wages are still more than they would make in Mexico.

If you insist on higher pay in certain industries, then how can you support illegal immigration? As long as you constantly have an influx of new workers, wages will be lower than they otherwise would be. It is simple economics. Why do you think foreigners with high tech skills are in high demand? Americans accept mediocrity. From elementary school to high school, we dumb down education. It is more important to be an athlete rather than a brainiac.

Scholarships should not be given for sports achievements. All scholarships that are given should be for educational achievement. What percentage of college football players can actually do simple math or write a paper on a subject? Not many.

While Americans accept being average with a low income, Mexicans are willing to work because they know that money is the one thing that can improve their lives and that of their families. Americans are unwilling to work two or three jobs because they think they are entitled to a decent income while working less than 40 hours per week.

Americans are growing up with an entitlement mentality which is encouraged and supported by their parents giving them whatever they desire.

We need to reward success and heard work and not reward laziness and mediocrity.

Fake Walmart Protests

0
November 23, 2012

The various unions in this country are busing in non interested persons to protest at Walmart stores. I wonder how much the unions are paying these protestors? Oh sure, there are a few Walmart employees participating. However clearly they don’t believe enough in the cause to protest at the stores that they actually work at.

The unions are just pissed that they have never been successful at organizing Walmart. My question is: Is Target unionized? Is Kohls unionized? Is Kmart unionized? The answer is no.

The fact that the Unions have never been able to organize Walmart employees or convince shoppers not to shop there must be upsetting to the crybabies. They naturally blame Walmart and other retailers for anti-union threats to employees. If I am a retailer, I don’t give a f**k what the National Labor Relations Board says, it is my right as an owner to make it clear that the store may or will shut down if a union is authorized.

Some Walmart employees are so naive as to believe that Walmart jobs are supposed to allow them to support a family. These types of jobs are good for people new to the workforce, retirees, or wives who need to make some money and primarily single people with no kids. Why else would there be a 44% turnover rate?

Walmart and retailing in general is not the only industry with a high turnover among employees. The trucking industry has a turnover rate in excess of 100%.

Close to 100 million shoppers patronize Walmart every week. You can’t tell me that many of those shoppers aren’t union members or friends and families of union members. If you can’t even get your own friends and family to not patronize Walmart, what makes unions think they could ever convince the general public? Individuals and their families are more important than what someone else is paid.

Some Walmart employees want more hours and to pay less for health insurance. That won’t happen. With “Obamacare” the law of the land, the reality is that it is more likely that retailers will cut hours to have the majority of their workforce as part time

The average retail employee earns $12.04, while at Walmart it is $11.75. If you decide, because this is a free country and no one is forcing you at gunpoint, to work in retail or the service industry, you should expect to not make a ton of money. Retail and service industries will never pay $30,000 or more.

Do I think people in retail and service industries are underpaid? Perhaps. Maybe retailers would pay better if they didn’t have the amount of theft from their own employees. Maybe hotels would pay better if more employees would be more interested in working and less interested in playing with their cell phones. I would probably pay better for those employees who proved themselves. If for no other reason, the cost of hiring and training is an expense which could be mitigated through higher pay.

As a business person, you want to reward highly productive employees while not rewarding slackers or lazy people. Mandated higher wages reward everyone. The best hope is to ingratiate yourself to your managers. Prove that you are a highly productive employee willing to go the extra mile to improve store efficiency, cut costs, satisfy customers, or increase store sales.
